Multi-age Microschool
A 21st century one-room schoolhouse, where a small community of students from grades 1-6 learn together and from one another.
Our Mission
To wisely instruct and creatively nurture each child’s unique and God-given abilities for the purpose of training up each child to become fruit-bearing reflections of Jesus Christ.
Curriculum
KSA uses Alberta’s Grade 1-6 Programs of Study to direct daily learning. Carefully chosen curriculum is then used to wisely instruct each subject’s individual learning outcomes.
Personalized Learning
KinderSprout Academy has a 1:5 instructor to student ratio. Our micro community allows for flexible, creative, and hands-on approaches. Students are met where they’re at, and learning occurs at each student’s unique pace.
Safe Environment
At KinderSprout Academy, teachers are better able to nurture and give individualized attention, all due to the small class size. Building relationships is key, helping students to feel comfortable bringing concerns/questions to the teacher’s attention.

Priorities
-
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the father except through him. Because of this, all instruction should be rooted in Christ. Curriculum is chosen with care.
-
Parents and educators work together as a team to help children develop spiritual maturity and virtuous character traits. This is done through parental and teacher communication and example, as well as the wise use of unscheduled “teachable moments”.
-
Most afternoons students work together, or individually, on a Discovery Project (science, social studies, art, music, drama, history, creative writing…). Every 5 weeks students present their Discovery Project.
For more information about the Project-Based Learning (PBL) method, check out these helpful videos.
-
Instruction, curriculum, and group projects will focus on building 21st century skills: creativity, collaboration, effective communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, leadership, and information literacy.
-
We aim to shift the focus from simply gathering knowledge to actively applying that knowledge and creating in a way that solves problems and creates value. Students will begin to understand the concepts of: supply and demand, profit, and competition.
-
“…a classroom dynamic in which the students participate actively while the teacher might take a (seemingly) more passive role. It boils down to group work, one-on-one tutoring in the classroom between student and teacher, student presentations…To learn a skill, students must be directly involved. No teacher can stand there and tell the students how to do something and expect the students to leave the classroom able to do it.” - Martha Kennedy
