KinderSprout Academy
Cultivating care, connection, & creativity - with Jesus at the core
Who Are We?
We are Fusion Christian Academy’s Red Deer location, an accredited, Christian, independent microschool - currently serving grades 1–6 with plans to expand through grade 9.
Multi-Age Microschool
A 21st century “one room schoolhouse”, where a small community of students learn together and from one another.
Our Mission
To wisely instruct and creatively nurture each child’s unique and God-given abilities for the purpose of training up each child to become fruit-bearing reflections of Jesus Christ.
Our Vision
Our future vision features three small, multi-age learning groups (Primary 1–3, Intermediate 4–6, and Junior High 7–9). Our model balances focused time within these core groups, as well as intentional, school-wide interaction, allowing students to learn from and with peers of all ages.
Curriculum
We use Alberta’s Programs of Study to direct daily learning. Carefully chosen resources are then used to wisely instruct each subject’s individual learning outcomes.
Personalized Learning
We have a 1:10 teacher to student ratio, with extra help in the classroom. Our microschool approach allows for flexible, creative, and hands-on learning experiences. Students are met where they’re at, and learning occurs at each student’s unique pace.
Safe Environment
Due to the small class size, teachers are better able to nurture and give individualized attention. Building relationships is key, helping students to feel comfortable bringing concerns/questions to the teacher’s attention.
Priorities
-
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the father except through him. Because of this, all instruction should be rooted in Christ. Curriculum is chosen with care.
-
When parents and educators unite as a team, we create a powerful foundation for a child's spiritual and character growth. This partnership thrives on open communication, positive role modeling, and the wisdom to embrace spontaneous, everyday teachable moments.
-
Through Project-Based Learning, students learn through creativity and critical thinking.
For more information about the Project-Based Learning (PBL) method, check out these helpful videos.
-
Instruction, curriculum, and projects will focus on building 21st century skills: creativity, collaboration, effective communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, leadership, and information literacy.
-
We aim to shift the focus from simply gathering knowledge to actively applying that knowledge and creating in a way that solves problems and creates value. Students will begin to understand the concepts of: supply and demand, profit, and competition.
-
In a traditional classroom, the teacher acts as the "director," deciding exactly what is learned, how it is learned, and when it is learned. In a learner-driven environment, the teacher shifts to become an "architect" or facilitator. The students actively help shape their own learning paths based on their interests, pacing, and needs.
